RISK FACTORS FOR THE USE OF MEDICINES IN PREGNANT WOMEN
(Classification adapted from that issued by the administration of food and medicine from the United States)

A

There is no risk to the fetus in the first trimester of pregnancy. No risk tests in the last trimesters of pregnancy

B

No risk to the fetus. Adequate clinical studies for pregnant women are lacking.

C

There are side effects in fetuses of experimental animals. So far there are no adequate studies in humans, so the risks of its use in pregnant women are unknown.

D

There are risk tests for the human fetus. RISK CAN BE ACCEPTED WHEN INTRINSE PRESCRIPTION IS RATIONAL, WHEN IT IS GRANTED IN A COALIGATED WAY, A SPECIFIC AND INDIVIDUAL HEALTH PROBLEM.

X

Abnormalities in human fetuses are evident. Risk factors should prevail over the intended “ benefits ” of the drug to be prescribed. Contraindicated in pregnancy

There are no current studies that support risk factors. This makes us consider that IN EVERY CASE, what is noted in points “ D ” or “ X ” is taken into account.
